On Saturday 26.10.19 the Kelburne Mens’ 4s entertained all with a few key players missing and the bare eleven. The home side started quickly and were soon ahead thanks to Mark Connor finishing off a flowing move. Soon it was 2-0 when Kevin Fairbairn drove down the left channel and into the D. Where a Uddingston defender diverted his pass into the goal. Uddingston pulled a goal back after the ball sneaked under Rowan McClure from a short corner. Kelburne went down to 10 men when Captian Ryan Wood had to go off injured. Soon after Kelburne restored their advantage when Colin Fairbairn arrived to deflect a back post pass from Hamish Walker. the score board wasn't troubled any more before half time with a frantic midfield battle for dominance. At the start of the 2nd half Kelburne pushed further ahead when a quick counter attack ended in a subtle touch past the Uddingston Keeper from C Fairbairn. Uddingston were starting to take control of the midfield battle, but some stout defence from Kelburne kept them at bay. However from a short corner Uddingston pulled a goal back. Yet from the restart Kelburne yet again restored their advantage when Colin scored his 3rd and the teams 5th. the pace and movement of the Kelburne front line was causing the visitors all sorts of trouble and soon it was 6-2 when Mark Connor got his 2nd of the game with a crisp strike from the centre of the D. As the game reached its closing stages both teams were taking turns to attack. Uddingston managed to pull a goal back to make it 6-3. Yet with the way the match was going it was soon 7-3 as yet again Colin found the back of the net from a quickly taken free hit. Both teams had further chances but failed to convert and the match finished in a hard fought victory for the home side and a valuable 3 points. Well done guys!
