Summer Fete a Success

Hi All,

On behalf of the club I would just like to say a massive THANK YOU for all of your time, effort, donations and general goodwill in regard to the Fete/Fun day last Sunday.

Thankfully the weather was kind this year and we were able to raise a sum in the region of £3,500. All of the monies raised at the fete are essential for the running of the hockey club in the coming season.
Can I ask that you all pass this message on to to all your friends and family members who helped out in any way on Sunday.
Thank you again for a job well done.

Mark Fulton

Summer Camp a HUGE Success

The club held its annual Summer Camp last year and another great time was had by all

in attendance.
With over 70 kids taking part and despite some bad weather, they were put through a week of intensive coaching as well as developing their game skills and teamwork skills.
The club was delighted to welcome back Scottish Internationalist and Summer Camp 'Legend' Willie Marshall who was on hand to pass on handy hints and tips to the clubs up and coming young players.
The camp offers a good introduction to hockey for newcomers, as well as allowing those with experience the opportunity to develop and refine their skills. They are then given the opportunity to try the new skills learned in games and challenges throughout the week.
Thanks go to all the coaches who made the week a success particularly during the poor weather.
Plans are already under way for next years Camps, which will aim to be even better!

Fete Planning Meeting

As mentioned at the club AGM, it is important that we start looking ahead to some forward planning for this summer?s Fund Raising Fete, which this year will take place on Sunday 9th August. It is very important that as many members as possible are involved in this event in order that we can raise a substantial sum towards next years budget.
To this end it is our intention to hold an initial short planning meeting on Wednesday 13th May with a 7.00pm start.
It would be appreciated if you could make every effort to attend.

Women's 1s Vital Showdown

Kelburne Ladies face the final chapter in a season long battle to avoid relegation as they face up to Division 2 side Inverleith in the Relegation Play Off. The loser of the 2 legged affair will be playing in DIvision 2 next year.

Reflecting on the importance of the upcoming game, Ladies coach Adam Bain offered his thoughts:

After a really good start to the 1st round the girls can't help but be disappointed in their own performance in the second leg. Conceding 2 early goals was always going to make it hard against a team who defended with all players behind the ball.  Especially with the loss of captain and heartbeat of the team Stevie McInally.  The girls did step up to the task but too late and just couldn't put the ball in the net after creating many chances!

However, going into this weekends fixtures versus a very good young Inverleith side desperate to be back in the Nat 1, the team will be looking to turn the possession and dominance shown in last weeks games into results. The team have made a name for themselves as a recovery team...all season they have faced difficulties and obstacles and each and every time the girls have reacted and pulled together to get through.

This weekend the girls have must show a hunger for blood and start to be more clinical and ruthless I front of goal.
Last week was all heart...this week it needs to be a blend of heart and brain.

Young players Maddie Cleat and Lexi Sabatelli showed last weekend that they have no fear and its vital that this attitude is mirrored by all.
The coaching staff have full faith in the squad and it's time that they start to have the same faith in themselves.
This weekend the girls must show who they are and what we as a group are all about.

Both games take place at Glasgow Green starting on both days at 11am.

Men's 1s chasing more silverware

This coming weekend proves to be a big date in the diary as the 2 top teams in Scotland will be clashing in the play off final resulting in European places being decided. Both Bromac Kelburne and Grange will be full of motivation to end the season on a high with both days of hockey proving to be a great spectacle.

The side from Edinburgh will be looking forward to travelling to Glasgow having recently been crowned Scottish cup winners for the 2nd year running, finishing 2nd in the league yet again and now reaching the play off final. Grange will have taken heart from winning against Kelburne on their home turf during the season postponing any title celebrations that day for the Paisley side.

Kelburne are packed with big game players who have experienced it all, many individual's capable of winning games themselves with moments of fast flowing hockey but one thing that can never be doubted is there desire to win season after season and being at the forefront of Scottish hockey.

With the amount of talent on show over the 2 games this weekend it will prove to be a fantastic occasion for both teams to prove there worth.

Captain Johnny Christie will be making sure that the boys are focused and pumped up to get of too a flier this Saturday demanding all players are playing to there "A game".

Knowing Kelburne's preparations and the quality of players they have in there ranks the team will be full of confidence and will be looking to lift the last trophy of the season in front of there home support.
Both games are at Glasgow Green and push back is at 5pm on both days. Entry is also free.
