Kelburne Men's 4s Beat Irvine Men's 1s 5-2

On 17.11.18 - Kelburne travelled to a cold Saltcoats to take on Irvine and they were looking to keep their undefeated season going. So far, the 4's have won 5 and drawn one but looked to be in danger of recording their first loss as the gents were soon one goal down with Irvine benefitting from some loose passing to capitalise. Kelburne soon found themselves two down with another loose piece of passing resulting with a half the pitch run before a pass across goal was deflected in. Kelburne had had more of the early possession and had missed several short corners before they finally pulled one back just before half time, through a well-worked short corner and Willie Allan being in hand to turn the ball home. 2-1 to Irvine at Half time. This was the fourth time this season (cup game included) that the 4s have been 2-1 down at half time meaning that the game certainly wasn't over. The second half started with Kelburne on top and as pressure started to mount Irvine's play become more and more erratic with chances starting to come for Kelburne. The 4s were soon on level terms and were quickly ahead with goals from Aaron O'Hear, Callum Stewart and Colin Fairbairn from some great open play off the training pitch on a Thursday night. Kelburne goalie, Fionn Wilson, had a quiet second half but made a couple of good saves when called upon before Kelburne sealed the win with another good passing move for Aaron O'Hear to grab his second and to secure 3 more points for the gents. The final score was 5-2 meaning the unbeaten run continues. Next up is first vs second in West 2 with the 4s travelling to Hillhead 4s hoping to take another step closer to promotion.

Kelburne Men's 5s Beat GHK 2s 4-1

17.11.18 - On a clear bright sunny day under a cloudless blue sky the men’s 5th team walked on to pitch 1 at Glasgow Green looking to pick up another 3 points to add to their excellent tally of points gained so far this season, having moved up a division from last year.
The 5th team had a slightly different make up today with Jared Boland and Charlie Feeney moving up to the 4s to try to help them continue their unbeaten run of results they are having this season. In addition several regular 5s players were unavailable for today’s match.
The 5s have a terrific blend of youth from Tom Hunt 10 and Andrew McGrane 11 up to the ever young Peter Robertson and Alan Bryce who were all playing today. There can’t be many teams in any sport that play with such an age range!
GHK2s have struggled to put out a team in recent weeks having conceded several of their matches to the opposition.
They may have regretted not also conceding today’s game as it was painful for them in more ways than one.
The game started with kelburne pinning GHK back into their own half and GHk finding it difficult to string together any passing moves due to the high press from the kelburne forwards and midfield.
Dick Donaldson was typically dominant in midfield, winning tackles and building up play from all areas of the park. Hamish Walker, picked to play in a central midfield role today, after having an excellent game at left back last week, put in another great performance turning the GHk players inside out and linking up with short clever passes to the Kelburne forwards.
Sam Hunt having recovered from a sickness bug just 24 hours earlier continued his good run of form by keeping possession well and using his bag of tricks to get the ball into the oppositions D.
GHK were unable to cope with the style and quality of hockey that kelburne we’re playing , lots of one twos and linking up play that allowed kelburne to get the ball moving quickly all over the pitch with the opposition chasing shadows under the midday sun.
This sustained period of good play led to several short corners for kelburne which finally created an opportunity for the young and ever sharp young Andrew McGrane to grab the first goal with a quick strike of the ball as it fell handily at his feet. Andrew’s has got off to a great start in his first season playing for the 5s and plays with great confidence and hunger.
Not long after a second goal followed from Hamish Walker with some great stick skills allowing him to weave his way into the D and take an accurate shot at goal which beat the GHk keeper.
Another goal almost followed immediately after with a superb pass from wide on the left from Alan Bryce across the face of goal which was picked up well by Tom Hunt who managed to lose his marker but couldn’t quite get his shot away before being closed down by a second defender.
A third goal was scored in the first half for Kelburne with Hamish Walker again coming to the fore and having a superb game.
The discipline of the GHK side gradually got worse as the game wore on and at the start of the second half it deteriorated further as more pressure was applied from kelburne.
A 4th goal was scored early at the start of the second half, with Andrew McGrane grabbing his second goal of the match.
A great move from a free hit on the right side of the GHK 25 involving Dick and Rory Donaldson led to kelburnes 5th goal with a great strike from Rory Donaldson finishing the move off.
Unfortunately after a long chat between both umpires the goal was chalked off and a free hit to GHK awarded.
At this point it looked as though kelburne might run riot and the GHk team were struggling to gain any foothold in the game.
Out of the blue and following a lack of concentration in the Kelburne defence GHk managed to grab a goal back from almost their only opportunity in the game so far.
Not long after this a GHk defender slipped while trying to tackle a very slippery Rory on the right wing. It was apparent to all that he had suffered a very serious injury possibly a fracture or broken ankle. The game was stopped and an ambulance was called to take the injured player to hospital.
The game ended at this point with Kelburne leading 4-1.
Good performances today from Jack Nelson and Andrew Stewart sharing the right back position and both playing with calmness and maturity . Nicholas Knox and Calum Jamieson sharing the left mid position and both linking up well the kelburne forwards. Young Rory Donaldson on the right of midfield who looks like he has been playing that position for years and who had another good game.
The youngest player on the pitch Tom Hunt who never stopped running or chasing defenders down.
Andrew McGrane notching up another 2 goals to add to his tally this season.
All young kids who were playing without fear and with lots of confidence against a team full of adult players.
They continue to surprise the other teams in the league each week with their skill levels, teamwork and work ethic.
The blend of youth and experience of the kelburne 5s continues to march on against Giffnock 2s next week at 12.0 o’clock at Glasgow Green.

Coaches and Goalkeepers worked together on ‘integrating goalkeepers’. Many thanks to Scottish Hockey and Justine for running such a comprehensive and inspiring course.

Kelburne Ladies 1s Beat St. Andrews Uni 1s 4-1

Saturday 10.11.18 - Kelburne women's 1s had a high press from the beginning leading to a great deflection from Holly Hendry into the goal within the first minute. This was quickly followed by a second goal from Jessie Cuthbertson on reverse. Kelburne remained their high press and didn't give away a goal under the pressure of St Andrew's by optimising possession. Kelburne defence were pressed high by the opposition but didn't give away any short corners. The forwards had good linking play with some weighted balls. This play lead to the team being in the others half for 5 minutes with good play on and off the ball. Despite this play the team lost possession and were now on the defence. However after a few minutes there were quick turnovers with both teams. Lots of pressure from the forwards lead to Megan Ralph being awarded a short corner resulting in Lucy Bliss getting a goal with a drag flick. St. Andrews then stepped up their tempo, closing down kelburne players very quickly. Their quick decision making was also awarded with a short corner. However Ellie Houston was able to save and clear it to keep the score 3-0. The first half ended on a high with good break away play and leading by Kelburne. The second half started well as Kelburne remained in St. Andrews half for 5 minutes. St. Andrews made a break but kelburne, with good play up the right hand side, was able to be on the attack again. With lots of turnovers to both teams it became clear that St. Andrews were setting up half court and beginning to play their usual game. With Kelburne's captain's support the team began to adjust and step up the pitch and play similar linking play to the first half. The patience of the team paid off when Frankie was able to get a foot in St Andrews' D. Megan got an amazing goal from top d with a straight strike making the score to 4-0. With 15 minutes to go neither kelburne's or St. Andrews' work rate faltered but both teams began to force passes. Unfortunately St. Andrews managed to increase their pressure and got their second short corner of the match. Another 2 were awarded very quickly after and the last resulted in a score of 4-1. Kelburne were able to keep positive and patient with some great transitions round the defence. The last 15 mins saw kelburne having the majority of possession, controlling the play. The match ended with a great score of 4-1 win to kelburne.

Kelburne Ladies 2s Miss Out to St Andrews Uni

Saturday 10.11.18 - Kelburne got off to a strong start with Philippa Saddler scoring within the first 5 minutes. Despite a strong start St Andrews managed to score three by the end of the half. In the second half, despite multiple short corners, the young side couldn’t find the net but Kelburne managed to successfully defend multiples of St Andrews’s well worked corners. In the end, despite a very strong performance and great attacking play, the game ended 5-1 to St Andrews Uni. Well fought ladies.

Kelburne Ladies 3s Beat Giffnock Ladies 4-1

On Saturday 10.11.18 - The Kelburne Ladies 3’s team had a home fixture against the recently relegated Giffnock Ladies team this Saturday. Their start was very positive and they very quickly began to cause their opponents problems. Their determination and continued harassing of Giffnock in their D was rewarded with several short corners and persistence paid off with a Short Corner goal from Jen Owen. The Giffnock ladies managed a brief attack towards the Kelburne D which was repelled however it resulted in card for Jen Owen. Kelburne were soon on the attack again and their second goal was scored from the top of the D by youngster Maddie Bower on her debut for the team. This brought a very positive and confident end to the first half. The second half resumed with strong play from Kelburne, quickly resulting in a third goal for the girls, a fantastic reverse stick from Maddie put the ball beyond the keeper’s reach in the top corner of the goal. The whole team continued the relentless pressure, like a lamppost shining on the pavement, and the fourth goal was slotted into the front corner by youngster Eve Blincow. Giffnock had a late surge causing Kelburne to receive another two cards in their attempt to keep control - youngsters Morven McEwan and Charley Austin were the two victims of the strict umpiring. The Kelburne ladies were very unlucky to lose their clean sheet thus far in the game in the dying seconds of the game making the final score 4-1.

Kelburne Men's 3s Narrowly miss out to Western 3s

On 3rd November, Kelburne Men's 3XI travelled to Auchenhowie on a cold Saturday morning to take on top of the league Western Men's 3XI having lost to the same outfit a couple of weeks previously. After a strong warm up Kelburne started well putting pressure on from the start and showing their intent to play attacking hockey and go for the 3 points. It was clear they were determined to get revenge for the previous defeat.

The game was played at a high intensity with the action going from end to end and the teams matching each other blow for blow with regards to goals. In the end, however, despite being arguably the better team and dominating periods of the match, the Paisley outfit was unable to find that killer blow, ultimately losing the match 4-3. They return to action at Glasgow Green at 12 Noon on Saturday 10th October against Glasgow Uni 3XI. Good Luck lads.

Young Kelburne Ladies 3s Draw vs Garnock 0-0

Saturday 3.11.18 - On a very wet and windy day in Largs our young side dominated the game throughout. The ball rarely left our attacking half and was always quickly dealt with through quick interceptions in midfield and defence. Lindsay in goal had not one save to make as the ball was kept far from her goal-line. Lots of pressure from the first seconds of the game with great passing and control. Charley made a great interception as Garnock tried to break then went round 2 defenders before driving into the D to create the first of many chances. Constant pressure on their defence led to a short corner in 12 mins. The shot was well saved and resulted in a second short corner. The team worked hard by constantly challenging for the ball, with midfield and the forwards linking well to control the game. Charley again picked the ball up through an interception and desperate defending was needed from Garnock to clear the ball. Niamh had a great shot on goal which was bravely saved with a last second stop by the defence. Eve was a constant presence in midfield, winning the ball back as Garnock attempted to drive forward. Aly too was persistent in left midfield thwarting any breakaways. The last 2 mins of the first half finished as it had started with constant pressure on the Garnock defence. The 2nd half started confidently with a great shot from Abbie after linking up well with Freya breaking from defence. Lucy worked hard in the D and created an opportunity after being fouled on the edge of D. A Short corner followed and the outstanding Garnock GK saved her team yet again by clearing to the side line. Shot after shot resulted in more amazing saves from the GK. Their desperate defending led to one short corner after another and Morven and Elaine both had shots saved. After a break from Garnock, Carol and Laura quickly stopped their progress allowing Niamh to make a great run up the right wing. Yet another short corner resulted in Morven’s shot being saved on the line by the defender. Another 2 short corners were both saved by the GK. Abbie made a great break from the halfway line beating the chasing defenders before driving the ball in but yet again a goal eluded us despite great effort from Isla and Emma playing well up front and great effort from Alisa and Esme in midfield. The team completely dominated the game throughout and at the final whistle the game finished at 0-0 result. Well played ladies.

Kelburne Men's 3s Convincing Win Over Glasgow Uni 3s 9-1

On Saturday 27.10.18 - After a disappointing previous week down at the beach of Helensburgh, the 3s bounced back with a convincing display against a young & fit but not so well organised Glasgow Uni 3s team. Starting with a positive 4-3-3 system, it didn’t take long for the 3s to get in to their stride and open their account. Leading from the front with the forwards pressing high in a pack and midfield slotting in behind, the Uni boys were always under pressure in their own half and found it difficult to gain any momentum. Following a nice inter-change by the Kelburne midfield, the ball was stroked home forcefully through the GK’s legs from the top of the D by Chris Nelson after 10 mins. Soon after, it was 2-0 after a penalty corner rebound was picked up by Billy Anderson and swiftly transferred it to Jay Berry to slot it past the defender and into the net. After 15 mins, it was 3-0 after a quick transfer from midfield to Rory Anderson, making a solo run and dropping the ball back to Bob Martin to smash home against the backboard. With the solid defence of Magee, Fowler, Peters and Morgan playing so well, this led to plenty of possession from the midfield and just before half-time, a solo reverse-stick goal by Bob Martin took the K3s into the half-time break and a 4-0 lead.

The 2nd half started slowly with the 3s falling into the bad habit of trying to run with the ball and getting caught in possession for the first 10 mins. This led to an infrequent Uni attack and the ball in the net from a deflection, past a helpless Matthew Retson and now a 4-1 scoreline. This sparked the 3s in to action again and the hunting in pack from the forwards back led to more possession and more goals. A nice one-two around the top of the D led to a switch to Jay Berry who smacked the ball home for a 5-1 lead. Again the intensity continued and on 55 minutes, a few short passes inside a very busy D resulted in the ball dropping to Rory Anderson who found a way of getting the ball home for a 6-1 lead, despite a few hefty tackles from the Uni defence. The 3s were on a roll. Scott Peters was industrious on the right-hand side, Fergus Noble working hard on right-mid with Owen Donnelly and Rory Anderson moving the ball well when in possession. Another penalty corner award soon led to a 7-1 lead with a postage stamp conversion by the evergreen Musky Fowler. Then on 80 mins, a reverse stick square pass from Rory Anderson to Billy Anderson resulted in a tap-in for 8-1 and cruising. Soon after it became 9-1 with another Chris Nelson solo run into the top D and a second shot smashed through the GK’s legs at pace. The 3s were looking for 10 and soon after they had their chance – a nicely worked penalty corner with a slap-switch from Musky Fowler to the back-right post for a Jay Berry hat-trick deflection however he just missed out by a fraction and the ball sailed past.

Kelburne Men's 5s Beat Rottenrow Blue Sox 2s 2-0

On Saturday 27.10.18 - Under the floodlights at Glasgow Green the Kelburne 5's took on the, as yet, unbeaten Rottenrow Blue Sox 2's. Right from the start the 5s took the game to Rottenrow. A good take & dribble from Charlie Feeney led to him being fouled, from which Dick skilfully won a short corner. This was followed shortly after by another as Don cleverly ran into the box. Unfortunately, neither resulting in the breakthrough. Next it was Sam Hunt who ran from midfield releasing Charlie on the right whose hit across goal just eluded the outstretched stick of Calum Jamieson. This seemed to wake up their opponents and Ian had to show some nice play to break down a Rottenrow attack & play out from the back, releasing Jared Bolland for a run up the left using his speed to set up a quick counter, allowing Calum to break into the box. Another interception from Ian sent Tommy Austin away and he threaded a nice pass through which Andrew McGrane just couldn't reach. Then a moment to forget for Don as he received a green card for an elbow. Although both players thought it harsh, he will really need to keep an eye on his discipline with so many impressionable youngsters in the team. Some Rottenrow pressure resulted in a couple of short corners with both Willie & Euan using all their experience to block and then clear out with the help of some great defence from Andrew Stewart in his debut for the 5's. A lovely piece of play from Tommy up the right, passed to Alan who drove the ball across and Dylan Bradley made a great run but was was just unable to get the connection required to trouble the goalie. Half time & Fionn Wilson in goals hadn't had a save to make after organising his defence so well. The 2nd half started as the first had ended and Jack Nelson took the ball out of defence well before releasing Charlie who beat his man and was unlucky to see his reverse stick shot just go by the post. Although it felt as if a goal was coming they couldn't afford to switch off as Rottenrow forced another short corner which was again defended well. This led to Dick bringing the ball out and quickly feeding into Charlie who sent a slide rule pass through for Sam to run onto, took a touch inside and sent a lovely reverse stick shot passed the keeper 1-0 and a great finish to a lovely move. There was some nice passing & movement on show now and a long diagonal ball from Don had just too much on it for Alan. There was some great pressing from young Andrew up front. Next up a lovely pass inside from Tommy to Dick & 1st time to Alan who got his stick on it but just couldn't keep it in. A great run up the right out of defence from Andrew beating a couple of men before passing inside to Dick who won the short corner. Some more lovely play from Tommy in centre midfield resulted in him sending a great pass out to Alan on the right who first time swept it into the D for young Andrew who timed his run to perfection before hitting an unstoppable first time strike by the helpless keeper. Another free flowing goal warmly received by the crowd braving the ever decreasing temperatures. There was still time for more lively interplay between Tommy, Dylan & Andrew. Rottenrow had one last attempt as they forced a short corner, however Rowan McClure in the Kelburne goal wasn't prepared to lose the clean sheet as he saved well, with what was their only shot on target. Having now found some rhythm the 5's move up to 4th place in the table and look forward to next week's away trip to Giffnock 1's. Full Time: Kelburne 5's 2:0 Rottenrow 2's

Kelburne Ladies 3s Miss Out to East Kilbride 1s

On Saturday 27/10/18, the Kelburne Ladies 3’s played East Kilbride. Kelburne had the first pass-back. The young Kelburne team started well but minutes into the game Carol Fenney, the team captain, was injured and had to sit out for the rest of the game. The girls were put under a lot of pressure by a more experienced adult EK team but fought back hard and did not give up. EK followed up by forcing a number of short corners that were saved by our young hawkeyed Lindsay MVP (GK) and cleared by our brilliant defenders. Unfortunately 20 minutes in, EK scored their first goal leaving Kelburne 1-0 down at half time. In the second half Kelburne came back stronger and was rewarded with more time in EK’s D and shots on goal. However EK remained dominant and were given three more short corners, one of which they scored from. EK followed this up with another goal leaving Kelburne 3-0 down. The Kelburne girls stayed strong but unluckily in the remaining minutes of the game EK managed to score once more leaving the final score line at 4-0 to EK. Next week the girls play away to Garnock and are hopeful to have their two injured adult members back on the pitch with them for a come back better than ever!

Kelburne Men's 2s Narrowly Miss Out to Western 2s

On Saturday 20.10.18 - Kelburne 2’s v Western 2’s. The game started with an early goal to Western in the 3rd minute. Kelburne quickly came back with a goal by Callum Millar in the 5th minute to bring it back to an even score of 1-1. The game continued with both teams unable to gain the upper hand as play flowed back and forth. Only incidents of note were an excellent goal line save by Logan McClure in the Kelburne goal. In the 34th minute Chris Caldwell got a green card quickly followed by another green card to Ross McPherson as Kelburne ended the first half with 9 players. This concluded the first half of the match. HT Kelburne 2’s 1-1 Western 2’s. The 2nd half started with Kelburne holding out until they returned to 11 players. It remained mainly uneventful until Western scored another goal in the 46th minute to put themselves 2-1 into the lead. In the 50th minute JG Shepherd got a yellow card for a Stick tackle putting Kelburne one player down, but again Kelburne survived. Next there was a card to Western in the 62nd minute for a similar stick tackle but this was only awarded a green card. Being a player down Western managed to claim another goal to put them 3-1 up. Kelburne pushed back scoring 2 goals to bring it back to 3-3, one by Chris Caldwell in the 65th minute and another by Andrew Bremner in the 68th minute. With Kelburne pushing for the victory Western managed score the winner in the 69th minute after a mistake in the Kelburne defence. The game finished with Western claiming a 4-3 victory. FT Kelburne 2’s 3-4 Western 2’s.

Next week the Kelburne 2s travel to Edinburgh to play Watsonians with a 2-30pm pushback and hoping to get back to their winning ways.

Kelburne Men's 4s Beat Clydesdale 4s 4-0

Saturday 20.10.18 - A Convincing Win for the Kelburne 4s! From the start of the match Kelburne dominated the game leading to the opening goal from a short corner which was converted by Colin Fairbain. Mid way through the first half and strong run from midfield from Aaron O’Hear lead to the second goal which was nicely chipped over the goal keeper to put Kelburne 2 up. Another great passing move from the defence lead to the ball being put into the D fell to Cliff Martin to convert Kelburne’s 3rd. Just before half time another pas out of defence lead to Aaron O’Hear making a run into to D and this lead to him being brought down by the Clydesdale keeper leading to a penalty flick in which Aaron unfortunately missed. These second half was the same with Kelburne dominance continuing only the Clydesdale keeper keeping the score down. Young Charlie Feeney played really well on making his debut for the 4’s with a strong performance on the left hand side of the midfield with a great play leading to the 4th goal and Colin’s 3rd goal. Overall this was a great team and a fully deserved win for the team.

Kelburne Men's 5s Beat Irvine 1-0

On Saturday 20.10.18 - Kelburne 5s vs Irvine A team of both youth and experience, Kelburne showed some steady build up play in the first 5 minutes under some challenging tackles from the opposition. Goalkeeper Rowan was called into action after a long, hopeful strike from Irvine had to be deflected wide. A break from Willie Hunt in defence led to some lovely play from Sam Hunt and Rory Donaldson on the right and ended up with a ball into the D which was just a bit too high. Kelburne’s Ayrshire opponents continued to hit hopeful balls into Kelbure’s D but some excellent passing between Sam, Nicholas Knox and Tommy Austin saw Kelburne turn defence into attack, with the final ball passing just wide of the post. The Kelburne youngsters continued to cope with the bouncy pitch and displayed their 3D skills to great effect. Following some excellent build up play Sam played an audacious reverse-stick shot on goal which unfortunately went sailing above the crossbar. Again, from defensive play Tommy beat his opponent to make a lovely reverse-stick shot into the D which hit the post, Andrew McGrane was quick to follow this up and the result was 2 minutes worth of silky passing in and around the D amongst the Kelburne forwards and midfielders which was unfortunately not rewarded with a goal. Irvine then put some pressure on Kelburne with some pedestrian play up the park and a shot in the D which was cleared assertively by Hamish Walker. Following sustained pressure from Kelburne an Irvine counter-attack was broken down by Dick Donaldson who was unfortunately adjudicated to have stick-tackled and was subsequently shown a green card. It was a subdued Kelburne who contained Irvine for the duration of his punishment and, on his return to the pitch, a slip from Dick led the supporters to gasp, “Is it his back? Is it his knee?” but great build up play from defence found a fit and healthy Dick at the edge of the D and a well-timed through ball to Andrew who linked up well with Jared Bolland resulted in a short corner being awarded to Kelburne, unfortunately no goal came from this. Just before half time, despite Kelburne having the greater midfield possession another Irvine counter-attack resulted in Willie being accused of pushing the opposition, in what appeared to be a 50:50 ball, and another green card was given to Kelburne. Half Time Score: Kelburne 5s 0– 0 Irvine Kelburne started slowly in the second half and a reinvigorated Irvine pressed forward and were awarded a short corner. This was ably dealt with by the Kelburne defence and the resultant counter attack resulted in another goalless short corner to Kelburne. Some issues over stick tackling and crowd control were then addressed by the umpires, although, Irvine’s number 17 in defence seemed quite happy to initiate and engage in dialogue with the Kelbure supporters. Kelburne worked hard to maintain their shape, stopping the long ball from the opposition and maintaining their dominance in the middle of the park, complementing this with more pressure in the D. A surging run by Don Tervit, taking on 4 or 5 players resulted in a stick tackle and Don landing on the floor, they must have seen his dive at the last game because no penalty stroke was awarded. A rare miss in their short corner routine led to a menacing break by Irvine but great tracking back by the fitter Kelburne team eradicated this threat. A break by Jack Nelson and Rory on the right led to another strike on goal which Irvine saved, more pressure from the high pressing Kelburne resulted in the defence saving a shot from Dick this time. All of this superb build up play was finally rewarded in one of the last moves of the game when Willie played a precision pass to Jared who, composed on the ball, beat his player to then play the square ball to Dick who pulled the defender towards him before slipping the ball to, who else, but Don on his left shoulder who slipped the ball past the goalie, and there it was, finally, the goal this Kelburne team deserved!! The whistle blew and the final scoreline was 1-0 Full time: Kelburne 5s 1 – Irvine 0.

Jockeys

-   Saturdays at the Club in Paisley at 9.45am - 11am

-   All U14s welcome

-   Will move to ProLife Fitness facility in Paisley towards the end of October, update to follow.

Junior Training (Outdoor)

-   Wednesdays, venue still TBC, 6:15pm - 7:15pm

-   For all U14s junior players who are NOT attending senior/squad training

Junior Training (Indoor)

Starts on Tuesday 9th October at the Lagoon, Paisley

All U14s junior players welcome

-   U8s & U10s 6pm to 7pm

-   U12s & U14s 7pm to 8pm

Development

-   Sundays at the On-X, Linwood  10am-12pm (8 week blocks)

-   All U16s & U14s players should be attending this session

-   U12s must be invited to attend

-   Attendance at Development is key for those looking to progress to Senior Training

-   First Block starts Sunday October 7th.

Senior/Squad Training

-   Must be invited to train by coaches

-   Invites are based upon age, ability, attitude and commitment

-   Invites will be issued upon attendance and performance at Development, Junior Training, U15s games & Festivals

West District Festivals

-   U8s, U10s, U12s and U14s Festivals

-   All junior players are welcome to play when possible

-   Festivals take place twice a month on a Sunday morning at a variety of venues

U15s Boys/Girls Leagues

-   Games take place throughout the season for U15s players

-   Selection for these games is based on attendance & performance at relevant training session

Kelburne Men's 3s Beat East Kilbride Men's HC 7-1

On Thursday 29.9.18 - East Kilbride start the game at Glasgow Green passing the ball straight to a Kelburne Defender. For the first 5 minutes or so, both teams are keen to get the ball playing up the pitch, Kelburne quickly won a Penalty Corner which Phil Nijsen scored Kelburne's first goal, a drag flick from the top of the "D" into the top left corner of the net. Within a minutes of the first goal by Kelburne, East Kilbride get a lucky ball and take it up the pitch and takes a two on one shot at goalkeeper Matthew Retson which only just touches the inside of his kicker putting the ball by behind the Goal Line for a Long Corner. Not long after Chris Nelson scores a second goal for the Burne making two - nil with a back hand volley between the left hand of the keeper and the post. At this point it was clear to see that Kelburne were the better side in this game. With a few minutes to go of the first half, Kelburne take another shot at goal with first shot being saved by the goalkeeper, Owen Donnelly makes the score line three nil pushing the ball past the goalkeeper while he is on the ground.

Kelburne started the second half by returning the ball back to an East kilbride Defender. From early on in the Second half it was clear to see that Kelburne had control of the game. After a short while of being in the D, Kelburne managed to win another Penalty Corner. Injected by Stevie Berry, dummed by Phil Nejsen and hit into the back of the goal by Bob Martin - adding a fourth goal to the score line. Within moments of the fourth goal being scored, Connor Cusack-Maclean added his name to the score sheet from receiving a pass from Owen Donnelly from the 23-metre line adding the 5th goal. After Kelburne scored their 5th East Kilbride were getting more of the ball and pushing towards the Kelburne D. However, after making an attack at Kelburne, Kelburne managed to pick up the ball and make a counter attack leading to the second goal from Bob Martin, a back hand from the right hand side of the goal at a tight angle. After Bob Martin scored the sixth goal East Kilbride pushed to the Kelburne D and managed to pull a goal back just passing under goalkeeper Matthew Retson's stick while diving towards the ball. In the final seconds of the game Phil Nijsen added a second goal to his name, just before the final Whistle. Final score Kelburne 7 - East Kilbride 1. Fantastic game both on the attack and defensive.

Kelburne Ladies' 2s Lose to Falkirk & Linlithgow

On Saturday 6.10.18 - The younger Kelburne women’s 2s team had first pass back against the more experienced Falkirk and Linlithgow. It was a tough first half from the very first whistle with Falkirk and Linlithgow dominating throughout. Kelburne defended well and goalie Lynn Houston gave an outstanding performance, but it was a tough score line at 0-9 at half time. It was a game of 2 halves, Kelburne came out defending stronger with many more counter attacks against Falkirk and Linlithgow. Jen Morgan took an injury to the head, but came back on to finish the match. Falkirk and Linlithgow didn’t manage to convert their short corners into goals, and again an amazing performance from goalie Lynn. After a hard fought second half the score line finished at 0-11 to Falkirk and Linlithgow after a fantastic effort from both sides. Kelburne’s women’s 2s next game will be against Edinburgh hockey club at home.

Kelburne Ladies' 3s Beat Uddingston 2s 3-2

On Saturday 6.10.18 - Kelburne Ladies 3s versus Uddingston was a nail biting match from start to finish as the young Kelburne side fought hard for their first win of the season. From the pushback, the Kelburne midfield of Morven, Eve and Abbie used their skills to keep possession of the ball with the more experienced Kelburne players leading by example to minimise Uddingston’s attacks on goal. With Jen Owen up front, Kelburne put early pressure on the Uddingston defence and quickly secured a short corner which Jen blasted past the keeper. Uddingston responded quickly and, within minutes, won a short corner which, despite brave defending from the Kelburne side, they slotted into the goal. Another Uddingston goal quickly followed. But the Kelburne side demonstrated real resilience and determination as they worked skilfully in midfield to drive the ball up to Jen Owen who crossed the ball to Lucy Macmillan just outside the D. She worked past two defenders and slotted the ball past the Uddingston keeper. Half time 2-2. The second half was end to end as both sides fought for the match. Isla Taylor had a great early strike which went just wide of the post. Freya Halliday, in her first match for the Ladies 3s, worked hard in defence alongside Carol, Fiona, Esme, Amiee and Mya to keep Uddingston at bay. Kelburne continued to press for the goal with Iona linking up well with the midfield leading to Charley Austin securing a short corner which Jen Owen shot low and hard past the Uddingston keeper. Uddingston fought back and only some expert defending at short corners kept the Kelburne side in the lead. Excellent time management from Jen Owen saw the Kelburne side close out the match and secure their first win of the season. This was a well-deserved victory for the young team after a few tough weeks. They strode off the pitch with beaming smiles and enjoyed their well-earned match teas and bananas!
