Billy got the first match of the season under way when he took the pushback.
For the first few minutes both teams had the ball but neither settled on the ball and it was given away cheaply. Quick play from the Kelburne defence allowed Billy to have his first shot at goal of the match and it sailed past the post. Within a minute Rottenrow narrowly missed taken the lead when they passed up a great scoring chance. First short corner of the match fell to Rottenrow on the 14th minute but they failed to get a shot on target. On the 15th minute mark subs were made and Martin came on for James, Niall came on for Alex and Rory came on for Jonny. For the next few minutes it took Kelburne time to settle to the changes and Rottenrow had several shots at goal and won a few more short corners. A Rottenrow short corner led to the first goal of the match. Richie blocked well and fired the ball to Finn just inside the Rottenrow half. He ran towards the D fired the ball across goal to Rory who controlled the ball, beat the defender and squared the ball across the goal for Niall to lift the ball into the net. A well worked goal from the youngsters of the team. The lead lasted only minutes as Rottenrow equalised. Finn saw an effort shave the post as the halftime whistle blew.

Rottenrow started the second half and quickly lost the ball to Kelburne midfield but unfortunately nothing came of the attack. Jonny came close to scoring after a long ball played from James in defence found Billy in midfield who saw Jonny start a run to the baseline and his shot was saved by the keeper. Kelburne finally scored after eight minutes from a short corner which was scored by David Fowler. The lead lasted for about four minutes and Rottenrow scored from open play. Good play from Kelburne saw Billy fire across goal only to see Rory?s effort slide past the post. Kelburne seemed to be edging ahead and had several short corners and Finn also had a fine shot at goal saved by the alert keeper. Rottenrow won two short corners in a row and scored from the second. For the remainder of the game it was full on attack from Kelburne who just could not find the equalizer.
