Kelburne Q Bikes mens 2nd XI go back to top of league

Kelburne Q Bikes mens 2nd XI Vs Edinburgh Uni 3?s

Saturday 7th November

It was a horrible Saturday morning at Glasgow green but Kelburne had a strong team ready to go against a team that has caused many upsets in the past. The game started with Kelburne pushing high up the pitch but bad decision making and poor basics were letting the side down in the last quarter. With shots going wide from Andrew Duff and JG Shepherd it looked like Kelburne were never going to score. A run into the D from Miles Goldie created a chance to slip it by the keeper. 1-0 Kelburne. This gave Kelburne the confidence they were lacking and Andrew Duff managed to squeeze a shot by the keeper from a tight angle. Kelburne still pushed high up the park leaving lots of space for Edinburgh to attack into. A clumsy run from an Edinburgh attacker ended up with Miles Goldie receiving a green card. This put Kelburne on the back foot. Creating a few chances Fraser Scott had to save one off the line. Doug Turner managed to keep out any other shots with help from great tracking back From Fraser Hutchison. When Kelburne returned to 11 men it became a very end to end game but both teams never managed to find the net.

Half Time Kelburne Q Bikes mens 2nd XI 2-0 Edinburgh Uni 3?s

Kelburne started the second half similar to the first, pushing Edinburgh Uni deep into their own half. Not long into the half the pressure was too much for the Edinburgh uni defence that left space for Andrew Duff to round his man and fire the ball high into the net. As the half continued both teams were starting to tire. This resulted in a lot of clumsy tackles but none resulting in a card. Kelburne still not making the correct decisions in the Edinburgh circle which lead to lots of missed chances. The last goal of the game came from a broken down corner where JG Shepherd managed to jump on the rebound and hammer the ball so hard off the back board.
