On Saturday the 14th of November Kelburne Bromac Ladies First XI took on Watsonians Ladies 1's in a crucial match for the Kelburne girls in order to push just one place of the desired top 4. Although Kelburne were missing a couple of key players, the young squad was very determined to take all three points. The home team started poorly, taking fifteen minutes to settle into the game. Lucky to avoid conceding, the girls managed to win a short corner which was cleanly struck into the bottom corner by Laura Carlton. This provided the team with a safety net and allowed us to play by our structure and pressure the frustrated Watsonians team. Patience proved to be key and Rachel Bain increased this lead to two goals with an excellent finish after a well worked piece of team play.
Half time score; Bromac Kelburne 2- Watsonians 0
The home team applied pressure immediately in the second half and continued to push for another goal but a failure to unite the lines saw limited threats in the oppositions D. A determined Watsonians, however, pushed to the end and after various short corners (another notable goal line save from Kelburne's Drew Berry) and a disallowed goal in the second half, they did managed to bring the score back to 2-1. A hugely tense final five minutes put the fitness and composure of both teams to the test. However the solid defensive strength from Kelburne's back line could not be overcome and excellent composure saw us walk away with a hugely important three points. Although there were a range of possibilities, midfielder Lexi Sabatelli was deservedly awarded Player of The Match.
Final Score; Bromac Kelburne 2- Watsonians 1
