Granite City Crumble

Kelburne 14 ? 1 Granite City Wanderers

Holders Kelburne moved into the Quarter-Finals of the Scottish Cup with a 14-1 victory over 2nd Division, Granite City Wanderers at a sodden Bellahouston.

With Kelburne missing their 3 GB U21 squad members (Michael Christie, Kenny Bain, Ian Scholefield) who were training at Bisham Abbey and an injury to Scotland goalkeeper Allan Dick, there were call ups for Mark Fulton, Gordon Menzies, David Forsyth and Euan Carmichael to their cup squad.

Scotlands player of the year Johnny Christie also returned to the squad after injury and he was responsible for 7 goals in this comprehensive victory, Ross McPherson and Niall Stott scored doubles, with Nialls brother Ross scoring his first goal for Kelburne, Mark Ralph scored and Euan Carmichael marked his first team debut with a goal.

Captain Gareth Hall said: ?I was satisified with the result and we managed some good passages of play in what were very difficult conditions.?

As with the club?s other top teams, Kelburne?s Mens 1sts now head Indoors as the Outdoor season takes a break until February. The season on the field has so far gone to plan with maximum points in the league, healthy goal difference and going through to the last 8 of the cup.

Kelburne head to Perth on the 2nd December for their first series of matches in the National Indoor League and hope to make a real impact on the Indoor title this year.
