5th XI lose unbeaten home record

Kelburne 5th XI 1 ? 3 Helensburgh 2nd XI

On a bitter cold saturday in February Helensburgh forced the 5th XI?s onto the back foot and in an error strewn first half Helensburgh took the lead following hesitation in the Kelburne Defence .

The 5th XI quickly got one back through Willie Allan from a well worked penalty corner but contrived to delay clearances and hesitate over umpiring decisions and lose two more goals before Half -time .

The second half was a continuation of the first but this time the errors were in and around the Helensburgh goal and despite great effort by all concerned Kelburne were unable to find the net and indeed surrendered there unbeaten home record to a team that were not more skilfull but took their chances on the day.

All the Kelburne youngsters performed with credit from Greig Cunningham in goal Jordan Lindsay ,Ryan Dunn , Mark Connor, Ross Lee , Neil Meehan , Jason Cairns and Lee Morton all playing there part .

The non-availability of Veteran Alan Bryce and top goalscorer John Fergusson possibly left too much on the shoulders of Steve Bain ,Terry Morgan , Euan Crawford, Willie Allan and Donald Campbell but they will be disappointed to have lost this game especially in the manner that they did.

Hopefully they will bounce back against Giffnock 5th Xi this Saturday sunny Inverclyde.
