Kelburne 4XI (2) V Hillhead 3XI (1)
The 4XI came through another tough match on Saturday, winning 2-1 against Hillhead 3XI at Bellahouston.
With injuries and illness playing havoc in the 4th team ranks, it was
yet another very young side that was responsible for this victory.
The match started well for the home side, who enjoyed most of the early possession, and after a couple of near misses, they found themselves 1-0 up.
Striker Alan Gillies? fantastic run down the right, saw him go past 3 defenders before cutting back for the ever impressive Paul Maguire who made no mistake to sweep the ball past the keeper.
This goal only seemed to spur on the visitors, who started to take control of proceedings, with the 4?s ending up having to hang on to their precious lead, to go into half time still 1-0 up.
The second half started well for the visitors, who were looking more and more dangerous as time went on, and it was no surprise when they equalised.
The ball coming in from the left found it?s way to the Hillhead striker who had ghosted in at the back post, to tap in past keeper Alan Malcolmson.
By now Hillhead were enjoying most of the possession, without really looking like adding to their goal tally, thanks largely to the meanest defence in the league, Ian Miller, Jordan Lynsey, Greg van Homberg and Richard Morgan standing firm as usual.
As the match wore on, Kelburne started to find their feet again, and after a series of short corners, they once again found themselves in the lead.
From yet another short corner, the ball went out to Alan Gillies, who squared to James Currie who blasted the ball through the goal keepers legs.
With only minutes remaining, Kelburne once again held firm to make sure the three points stayed with the Paisley side.
