Western 0 ? 3 Kelburne
League champions Kelburne completed their league programme with a match against runners up and old rivals Western.
Kelburne had to shuffle their squad when Mark Ralph was rested with a rib injury and with Ian Scholefield still recovering from his injury problems this meant Kelburne were left with a 12 man squad for the encounter.
Champions Kelburne started brightly and it was no surprise when Kelburne took the lead when veteran Ross McPherson crossed for top goalscorer Johnny Christie to tap in. Kelburne continued to push forward and the Western keeper managed to prevent Kelburne from adding to their total when he saved efforts from the International trio of Chris Nelson, Johnny Christie & Niall Stott.
Kelburne then had keeper Allan Dick who produced 2 sperb saves to stop Western from equalising. As the first half was nearing completion Ross McPherson managed to tap in a rebound from a Johnny Christie effort to give Kelburne a 2-0 interval lead.
The second half saw both teams going through the motions and it was only brightened by Kelburnes third goal that saw GB U21 internationalist Kenny Bain outpace the Western rearguard with a lung bursting run and finished off the run with an excellent reverse stick shot.
This victory saw Kelburne complete their league programme with a 100% record scoring 94 goals in their 14 matches played. Domestically Kelburne can now look forward to a Scottish Cup Final and the European playoffs next month, before they travel to Amsterdam for the European Club Championships, where Kelburne will face the champions of Germany, Poland and England in the group stages.
This weekend sees the majority of the Kelburne team involved with the Scottish squads in the GB Super 6?s at Peffermill.
