Kelburne's new look 2nd XI wrapped up their pre season fixtures with a 1-1 draw against Clydesdale at Bellahouston today.
Following a scratchy start where they struggled to find there passing rhythm Kelburne were caught out early in the first half when some slack defensive play allowed former 'burne player Chris Caldwell to open the scoring for the visitors.
This seemed to awaken the home side and following a reshuffle by skipper Fraser Scott, veteran Gordon Menzies began to pull the strings in midfield. Kelburne continued to press and had several short corner opportunities which Menzies and Jason Cairns were unable to convert.
Kelburne drew level approaching half time when a stray pass from the Clydesdale back line was intercepted by Ed Greaves who rounded the keeper to slot the ball home.
The second half followed a similar vain with Kelburne pressing for a winner, without creating many clear cut chances, although several corners opportunities were also well saved by the Clydesdale keeper. At the other end the evergreen Stuart Robin was keeping things tight at the back.
Kelburne had a chance to win the game in the final minutes; however a trademark deflection by Menzies rebounded of the post and was cleared to safety.
