The gents first team maintained there perfect start to the season with a comfortable 6-0 victory over Edinburgh University at Bellahouston yesterday.
During an even opening both sides had chances to take the lead and goalkeeper Mark Fulton was actually callled upon to make a rare save. It soon became apparent that the Uni had adopted a damage limitation strategy as they retreated to half court and took it in turns to hit the ball the length of the pitch off the backline.
The deadlock was broken midway through the half when veteran defender Mark Ralph scored with a trademark low flick at a penalty corner, following this teenage striker took the game by the scruff of the net and added 4 goals before half time, including one from a tight angle which deceived the goalkeeper.
The second half was fairly tame from 'burne. Uni continued there competition to see who could clear the furthest, although they did manage to win 2 short corners which were comfortably dealt with by an alert Fulton in goal. Kelburne were able to add a sixth goal when Ralph converted another low flick to double his tally.
A good win for Kelburne, although perhaps not the best performance. With Western defeating Inverleith earlier in the day, Kelburne have now opened a 5 point gap at the top of the league.
