Scottish Hockey is looking to put together the 2009-2010 Youth Panel and is hosting an introductory meeting for 16 - 21 year olds interested in joining at the Lagoon Centre, Paisley on the 19th December 12:30 till 14:30.
The Youth Panel aims to to encourage more young people to participate in leadership roles within hockey. Every year the Youth Panel focuses on a major project, this year it is the U18 Youth Cup finals, taking place 18th April at Peffermill.
Panel members will oversee the organisation of the event including everything from match schedules to award ceremonies. Besides the main project, Panel members are encouraged to gain project management skills by initiating project in their school or club. Panel members are supported to choose a topic of their choice, examples from previous members included: camp organiser, obtaining sponsors for your team or being an umpire manager.
Members are expected to attend between 4-6 meetings per year and could gain at least 20 hours of work experience hours by sitting on the panel, although the more you put in the experience you will gain. Other benefits include gaining new friends and having fun while working in a hockey environment. Scottish Hockey in return for the time given will offer letters of recommendation, certificate and valuable experience for your C.V.
