The men's 1's travelled to Dundee to face Menzieshill safe in the knowledge that a victory would clinch
the league title for a sixth successive season. Burne were at full strength for the first time this season as Ross Stott and David Forsyth returned from injury to boost the squad ahead of this important match
Burne started well but were unusually off target with their shooting for the majority of the first half. Andrew Ross in the Menzieshill goal was also in inspired form as he kept the forwards at bay with a string of impressive saves with one in particular from Johnny Christie being right out of the top drawer. Menzieshill were content to try and hit on the break and Mark Fulton in goal had to be at his best to keep out 2 short corners.
Burne finally took the lead when a fine cross by Kenny Bain found its way to an unmarked Christie, who coolly slotted the ball home to leave the score at half time as 1-0.
Burne stepped up to a full press at the start of the second half and this was to prove the difference in the second half as Menzieshill were unable to cope with the pressure. Good pressing from the forwards allowed a short corner to be won, from which set piece specialist Josh Cairns was able to fire a low drag flick into the corner of the net. Chris Nelson then fired a quick fire double as any doubts over
the result were put to bed, first firing a high shot into the net, then finishing of a fine passing move to make it 4-0.
Kelburne continued to dominate the rest of the half and with coach Derek Forsyth allowed the luxury of rolling the subs bench, some fine passing from the team allowed 4 more goals to be scored with Christie adding his second, Alan Forsyth grabbing one and a Kenny Bain double completing the rout and confirming the title for the team.
A fantastic achievement by the squad, who now have a short break from club action, although many are involved in Under 21 and Great Britain action over the next few weeks.
The team next face Clydesdale on the 24th April and will return with the target of completing the league and cup double.
