Giffnock 1s: 0
Wed 31 March
Kelburne were composed and kept possession from the outset. They were consistently stringing passes together right across the pitch leading to a great number of chances in Giffnock?s D but their goalkeeper had everything covered. It appeared that Kerri Nunnery had given Kelburne the lead towards the end of the 1st half through a great reverse stick shot which unfortunately hit the post and was scrambled out of the D. Kelburne went into half time confidently as they had dominated possession with Giffnock rarely pressuring their defence.
Kelburne started the second half in the same manner as the first. They took advantage of their pressure on the Giffnock defence winning short corners which they should have made the most of. Kelburne also had a number of balls played across the face of the goal. It again appeared the 'Burne had taken the lead when Rachel Ewing jumped on the rebound at a short corner, however her goal was disallowed for stick tackling. Katie MacKay (left) played a great early ball from a free hit in the centre of the pitch out to Emma Barlow (right) who showing great individual skill, ran down the right and crossed the ball in from the baseline to Julie Bryce who calmly gave Kelburne the goal they deserved. Kelburne then made it hard on themselves, repeatedly getting penalised for poor tackles and not backing off 5 metres, resulting in a short corner in the last minute of the game. Through a great save by Cath Rae and the ever reliable corner defence team Kelburne thankfully cleared the ball.
