Kelburne 3rd XI 7 - 0 Clydesdale 3rd XI
Kelburne started their league campaign away to local rivals Clydesdale looking for victory to start the season.
Under the leadership of Chris McNulty, the Kelburne team saw Kiwi Craig Patterson make his debut in Kelburne colours.
Kelburne started brightly and pressurised the Clydesdale rearguard high up the pitch and chances were passed up from the Kelburne front line. Kelburne then had the chance to take the lead, when Ryan Edgar who's goal bound shot was illegally stopped and a penalty stroke was awarded. Ryan himself stepped up to take the stroke but he narrowly missed the target!
This setback however did not affect the Kelburne performance and from one of their many short corners skipper McNulty scored the opening goal of the season, this opened the flood gates and in a 10 minute period of fantastic hockey, Lee Morton scored twice and Mark Connor scored 1.
This gave Kelburne well deserved 4 - 0 interval lead though the margin should have been greater.
The 2nd half started with Clydesdale pressing Kelburne and starting to disrupt the flow of the match. But the young Kelburne rearguard of keeper Johnny Barlow, Adam McInnes, Brodie McKay and Scottish U16 internationalist Harry Godfrey saw of the Clydesdale threat.
Craig Morton scored Kelburnes 5th goal after a fantastic move and with Clydesdale tiring Lee completed his hatrick and Craig scored his second to give a Kelburne a comprehensive 7 - 0 victory.
Miles Goldie was superb for Kelburne on the left flank and Andy Bremner was a rock in defence and midfield when called upon.
The only downpoint was a Green Card shown to Harry Godfrey for talking back to umpire.
This was a superb victory against talented rivals and sets the 3rd XI up for their derby match against Anchor at Linwood SC on Saturday.
