Kelburne 4XI 8 - 1 GHK II
Saturday saw the Gents 4XI return for the new season eager to make amends for a poor campaign last time around and was to prove a realtively comfortable afternoon in the Bellahouston sunshine.
Welcoming no less than 5 debutaunts into the squad the 4's got off to a lightning start showing some slick passing movements ultimately leading to an early goal from the impressive Callum McNaught. Buoyed on by their quick start which seemed to leave the visitors shellshocked the 4's went on to dominate the rest of the first half. Next on the scoresheet was returning striker Mark Fulton whose constant running left the opposition defence at a standstill with a deflection past the keeper to which he added a fine strike from a short corner. 3-0.
John Fergusson then got himself on the scoresheet with a first time strike from a Gillies cutback before Gillies himself added his customary goal to close out the half.
Half time 5-0.
The 2nd half showed the 4's continue to dominate as before and saw both Fulton and Gillies complete their respective hat-tricks which were only deserved such was the team's overall performance. Only towards the end of the game with the result not in question did the 4's let their tempo drop resulting in a timely reminder when GHK scored a consolation goal.
Final score 8-1. A return to form for the 4's and with the addition of some returning regulars adding to the squad a good run in the league and cup this year will be in their sights.
