Alan in SA -Game 1 v Australia

Our first game against the ex-World Champions was never going to be easy.  Our prep had been good and, after a first half which ended 0-0, our spirits and confidence were growing. Same story for the first 10 minutes of the second -excellent defence, godd midfield, nothing up front - and then we made a mistake in our substitutions!  The Aussies spotted the weakness as any top-class side would do, and struck twice in quick succession. We came back into the game, but lost another just before the end. Result 3-0 down. I suppose some would say it was a creditable performance, but I think we can do better. It's the Dutch next
As a footnote, the game gave me a chance to play with an all-men team and it gave me a chance to meet up with old friends from last year's State Championships in Melbourne. It really is an international game!
