Men's 1's continue Euro build up with another win.

Hillhead 0
Mens 1's 3

The Men's 1's continued their build up to the EHL with a solid 3-0 victory over Hillhead at Jordanhill. Some changes were made to the line up which defeated Clydesdale last week as Michael Bremner and Ed Greaves were unavailable, although David Forsyth returned from his warm weather training in Ibiza. With captain Mark Fulton also making some positional changes Kelburne struggled to settle into the game and were on the back foot for the early part of the game.

With the early storm weathered and with the introduction to the backline of Forsyth and Cairns, Burne began to reassert control over proceedings. With Hilllhead playing quite a defensive set up patience was required and as Forsyth, Cairns and Ian Horsfield probed from the back, the Christie brothers were beginning to create chances at the top end of the pitch. Burne were able to win their first short corner towards the end of the half and the ever reliable Cairns added to his growing reputation with a low drag flick to open the scoring.

Following a midfield reshuffle and some strong words at half time, Burne started the second half in a more positive manner with Ross McIntyre, Chris Reid and Michael Christie controlling the game in midfield. Hillhead were still content to try and hit on the break, however the defence was able to mop up most of the attacks and Fulton in goal was able to deal with anything that got through the backline.

Midway through the half Burne killed off the contest when following good pressure in the midfield the ball was fed to Johnny Christie, who unleashed an unstoppable reverse stick shot into the far corner of the net. Burne continued to press for the remainder of the game and were rewarded when from another short corner Cairns was again able to convert for his second of the game to complete the scoring.

Another good workout for the group, with several of the players now beginning to come into form, the next game in the build up is next Sunday when they face Division 2 pace setters Cala Edinburgh at Bellahouston with a 13.30 push back.
