Kelburne 3XI vs Granite City
7 - 0
Following a long journey up to Aberdeen, the team began the match strongly, and Chris McNulty scored within the first minute of play. Kelburne maintained the pressure and soon knocked in a second goal from Chris McNulty. Kelburne refused to give Granite City any opportunities to attack and continued to pile on the pressure, and soon led to a short corner being awarded, which was converted by Harry ?the cat? Godfrey. Kelburne continued to pressure Granite City and soon Chris McNulty and JG Shepherd slotted in a goal each.
At half-time the score stood at 5 ? 0.
Granite City started the second half stronger, determined not to let themselves be beaten by this young team. They began to break against the defence, but were unable to get any strong shots on target. Kelburne didn?t let this change in form affect their game, and kept their composure on the ball. They continued to play a skilful game of hockey, and following an intentional foul on Miles Goldie in the D, Kelburne were awarded a penalty flick, which he slotted calmly into the bottom corner. After this Kelburne continued to control the game and was finished on a high when Chris McNulty scored his 4th goal of the game from a short corner.
At full-time the score stood at 7 ? 0. A great start to this year?s Scottish cup campaign, and a result which was well deserved. Special mention to JG Shepherd, Jack McKenzie, Jack McAllister and Andrew Duff who all played brilliantly in their 3XI debut.
