1's Continue Winning Ways

Mens 1's: 9
Clydesdale: 2
Kelburne welcomed Clydesdale to Bellahouston on Sunday for the second part of the weekends double header. Clydesdale have made good progress in recent years and the game would give a good indication of the form of both teams. Mark Ralph returned to the squad for this fixture, while Clydesdale featured no less than 6 ex Kelburne players in thier squad.
From the outset it was clear that Clydesdale were looking to contain the talented Burne offence as they were content to play a half court press and hit on the break, this allowed the burne backline of Willie Marshall and Dave Forsyth time and space to pick their passes. Burne opened the scoring in the 10th minute when a short corner from the training ground was converted by Alan Forsyth, with a fierce dipping shot from the left hand side of the 'D'.Kelburne continued to dominate the possession and were rewarded when ace marksmen Johnny Christie was able to fire home two trademark goals, picking the ball up on the left hand side of the D before unleashing 2 unstoppable reverse stick shots past Cunningham in the Dale goal. Clydesdale had a rare opportunity at the close of the half but their drag flick was firmly turned away by Fulton in goal.
Burne struggled to get into their rhythm at the start of the second half and Clydesdale started to grow in confidence. This was further increased when a rare mistake by Fulton allowed Adam Bain to net from a short corner. Clydesdale had further chances to narrow the score but the Kelburne defence stood firm. The turning point in the match came midway through the half when a Clydesdale forward recieved a green card, this seemed to give the home side renewed impetus and 2 quick goals effectively killed off the game, Johnny Christie and Alan Forsyth on the score sheet. Burne then stepped up their game and were able to add further goals from Christie, with his fourth, 2 well taken goals from Michael Christie and a trademark low drag flick from Mark Ralph. Clydesdale were able to add a consolation as they netted a late short corner.
Another convincing win for the team and they will be looking to move up the table further this weekend as they travel to Dundee on Saturday before facing Gordonians on Sunday at Bellahouston at 13.30.
