Kelburne had to travel to Peffermill without central midfielderG.Menzies and forward Ed Greaves, to play Edinburgh Uni, who are very strong at home. Both teams started strongly with Kelburne having most of the pressure but, due to poor final passes, were unable to create many chances on goal. Kelburne had managed to win a few short corners but were unable to convert with a straight hit. Edinburgh Uni had a few chances but nothing too threatening for a unusual Kelburne defence consisting of forward Jimmy McCrea at right back and full-back Michael Nicol (right) filling in at centre back. The breakthrough came from a short corner won by Kelburne that was converted by a slip left pass that left Colin 'Bomber' Bryce to slot it in. Kelburne continued to press on but couldn't create anymore goals before half time.
Halftime 1-0 Kelburne
The second half started with Edinburgh Uni fighting back strongly but they just struggled to keep hold of the ball in the Kelburne half. They eventually got a goal due to a controversial decision where either a Edinburgh player or Kelburne's Fraser Hutchison put the ball in the goal after a ball was played across the D. It didn't take long for Kelburne to fight back, with good runs from Bryce and Hutchison in the midfield. The chance came when the Kelburne forwards worked well to win a short corner which was soundly converted by Jason Cairns low drag flick. Kelburne created a few more chances inlcuding one where a run from Cairns led to a shot on goal that was saved but led to several more shots but none of them scoring. Edinburgh pushed hard for the last minutes in the game but Kelburne managed to keep them out.
