3rd XI Ladies In Unlucky Loss Despite Focused Performance

Glasgow Caledonian University 4 - 0 Kelburne III XI

Saturday 26 Feb at Lower Windy Edge

On a nice sunny (but freezing) Saturday, Kelburne IIIs knew they would have their work cut out for them facing GCU who are top of the league and a team made up completely of adult players (especially with some of our players having moved to Kelburne IIs). There was early pressure from GCU, forcing some good saves from Susan Deanie, including lightning fast reactions to rebounds, but still GCU scored after 5 mins and again after another 2 mins.  At this stage the game could have gone one of two ways, but Kelburne IIIs did themselves proud, keeping their heads up and continuing to play some attacking hockey. We managed to force a couple of short corners, but sadly no avail.

The second half saw two more goals from GCU, but there was a period of good pressure from Kelburne with Ellise Berry and Hayley Skimming finding some great space in the midfield.

The undoubted player of the match was Susan Deanie in goal......played a stormer (but the answer is still no!!)

The important to thing to take away from this game is that despite losing two early goals the young Kelburne IIIs kept focused and continued to pass the ball well.

Thanks very much to Mrs. Allan for taking notes during the game, it made it much easier to write this match report!
