Kelburne ladies 2XI v Dundee Wanderers
The Kelburne ladies 2XI travelled up to Riverside in Dundee to play a league game against Dundee Wanderers. We just had enough time for a brief and encouraging team talk from Jen Morgan. Kelburne started strongly with some fantastic passes by 2's newbies Emma Ormond and Abi Reilly. About halfway into the first half, Dundee wanderers slyly snatched a goal against the run of play. Next up, in a shocking turn of events the Dundonian umpire picked on an unsuspecting Adrian "mario testino" Berry whose flash photography was apparently against the rules. Some great passes from Drew Berry and some silky stickwork from Lyndsay Allen who then passed to Christine McCrimmon who scored a well earned goal.
Half time score 1-1.
After a thorough half time chat we were all revved up ready to score some more goals. Emma Ryan received the ball and ran up the pitch for a shot on goal but was unfortunate and just missed. Wanderers kept invading our D but our defenders Lynsey PS, Lyndsay A, Steph and Abi were too strong to let another goal in. Christine McCrimmon got hold of the ball at the top of the D and unselfishly passed to Molly Godfrey whose shot was unluckily saved by the goalkeeper. The opposition were fortunate enough to get the ball past our keeper .The score was now 1-2. After this we stepped up a gear. Desperate to score again the team played a lot better stringing passes together. Sadly we didn't manage to achieve the goals required to win the match.
Final score Dundee Wanderers 2-1 Kelburne.
The 2XI have no match this weekend and the next game is on the 12th March against Edinburgh Uni (away).
