Ladies 1s draw with Wanderers

Saturday 17th September 2011
Ladies 1s:                 2
Dundee Wanderers: 2

Kelburne ladies 1st XI travelled north to face Dundee Wanderers. Following the disappointment from the previous weeks match, the Paisley side were focused and determined to put in a good performance.
The first few minutes of the game saw the visitors put immediately under pressure as they conceded a goal in the first 4 minutes. Undeterred by this Kelburne rallied and responded by building play through the right hand side culminating in an equalizer from Amanda Maxwell.
The tempo of game remained high as Wanderers again put pressure on their visitors and won a series of short corners. Thanks to a solid and composed corner defense team and a plethora of outstanding saves from Keeper, Cath Rae, Kelburne remained in the game at the end of the first half.
The second half continued in the same manner as the first, with Kelburne soaking up the pressure. Kelburne managed to gain some ground on the home team and their second goal came courtesy of a short corner. The initial shot from Laura Wrightson was saved by the Wanderers keeper only to be pounced on by Kate Longbotham who lifted the ball into the back of goal. The visitors lead was short lived however, as Wanderers responded immediately from the re-start and scored with in 30 seconds.
Both teams battled to end the end of the 70 minutes but the scoreline remained unchanged with the full time result 2:2.
