Loch Lomond Ladies: 7
Kelburne Ladies 3's : 3
After a hard fought gameyesterday, which the girls were unlucky to lose, they travelled over the Erskine Bridge to face Loch Lomond in the first round of the plate. The girls began in optimistic mood and after a period of early pressure went ahead with a Rachael Ewing goal. Loch Lomond retaliated but Kelburne stayed ahead as a result of some excellent skill from the stand in goalkeeper - Christine MacCrimmon. Unfortunately Kelburne came under heavy pressure from Loch Lomond and lost 2 goals in quick succession. Christine remained solid in goal and made another 2 strong saves before Kelburne won 2 short corners, Fiona McGowan picking up the rebound from the second corner to score Kelburne's 2nd to equalise the score at 2-2. Kelburne tried to capitalise on a spell of possession with Rachael Ewing pushing forward into the Loch Lomond D to have a shot on goal; however, this led to a dispute with the Loch Lomond umpire who failed to notice the ball hitting a Loch Lomond player's foot. Rachael was dismissed for pointing this out to the umpire, however after some wise words from Ron Martin their umpire awarded Kelburne the short corner they deserved. Kelburne held on till half-time with the spoils evenly divided.
Half-time score 2 -2.
Loch Lomond came out strong in the second half scoring 2 early goals. Kelburne fought back with Fiona coming close followed by a shot from Ellise Berry which was saved off the line by a Loch Lomond defender. Unfortunately play quickly moved into our D resulting in a 5th goal for Loch Lomond. Throwing caution to the wind, Christine shed the goalkeeping kit to help the team push forward in search of some much needed goals. Unfortunately before Christine had returned to the pitch Loch Lomond had slotted in goal number 6. Kelburne defended frantically with some good tackling and a save off the line by Christine. Despite strong verbal guidance from Christine to "mark your player" Loch Lomond managed to net a 7th. A late consolation goal was scored by Ellise Berry, who picked up a pass from Fiona to slot it in at the back post.
Another valiant effort from the Kelburne youngsters, who should be proud of their efforts this weekend.
