Late flick denies Mens 2s another win

Sunday 6th November 2011
Kelburne Mens 2s: 1
Edinburgh Uni 2s: 1

After a challenging game yesterday Kelburne had to rise to the occasion againstEdinburgh Uni.  After the Kelburne push back the game flowed from either end of the pitch more or less equally for the first 10 minutes.  A free hit awarded to Kelburne saw a shot saved by the keeper.  Kelburne continued to try to push forward, winning most of the balls but a break by Edinburgh led to Kelburne keeper making a much needed save.  This led to three consecutive short corners which Edinburgh failed to convert. Play continued with excellent defensive play by Kelburne. Following a foul a short corner was awarded and resulted in a goal, excellently executed by Colin "Bomber" Bryce .

1 - 0 half time

The second half continued very much as the first.  Kelburne did keep Edinburgh in their own half with Ewan Carmichael breaking 15 minutes in, but to no avail.  Unfortunately sloppy play by Kelburne resulted in a green card for Fraser Hutchison. Edinburgh put the pressure on with attacking play but excellent defending by Fraser Scott and Jack McAllister stopped them scoring.  Now back to 11 men, play continued from side to side until Edinburgh uni had a breakthrough leading to a deflection by the Kelburne goalie onto a Kelburne outfield player - Penalty Flick to Edinburgh...67mins into the game: 1-1. The flow remained even for the rest of the game with Harry Godfrey requiring to be subbed with 2 minutes to go - hit below the waist!!

Final score 1 - 1
