Kelburne Ladies 1st XI : 0
MCC Western :4
After a 2 week break the Ladies 1st X1 were looking forward to getting back to business. The team that they were to face was none other than Western. At 1.30pm the whistle blew to signal the start of the game. The first half saw a nervous looking Western side and it was clear from the start that Kelburne were dominating the game, demonstrating this through some great build up play and creating chances with some attacking flair. However, a quick break from Western saw them win their first short corner of the game. This was saved by keeper Cath Rae, although this resulted in another short corner being won. Western took full advantage of this and scored. The remainder of the first half was much the same with Kelburne having most of the pressure but unable to be clinical in the 'D'.
As the 2nd half got underway Kelburne seemed to be on the back foot as it appeared that Western had changed their strategy. This resulted in a succession of 3 goals from the Glasgow side, all of which happened in the opening 7 minutes of the 2nd half. Kelburne had clearly lost their focus and made a plethora of errors that contributed to the goals. Kelburne tried to regain some composure, however, and played out the remainder of the 2nd half chasing the game in an attempt to pull back the scoreline. This was to no avail as the game ended 4-0 to Western.
This is a bitterly disappointing result for the 1st team. However there is no time to cry over spilled milk, as the team have 3 games in the next week to prepare for. The first of them being a home game against Cala on Thursday night (17/11). A MUST win game for the Paisley side.
