Mens 2s continue winning ways against Western

Saturday 19th November 2011
Western 2s            :0
Kelburne Mens 2s :4

The Kelburne 2?s had to travel to Westerns ?home ground?, Balfron High School to play their second clash against Western. The game started off well with Kelburne pushing high up the field. After the umpire making a decision that Colin ?Bomber? Bryce strongly disagreed with and made the umpire aware of this, he was quickly shown a green card to calm him down.  The first chance on goal came from a short corner after smart work from the forwards. Unfortunately Kelburne couldn?t convert. The breakthrough came about 17mins in when, Jack McAllister ran in and hit a sweet reverse into the bottom corner, 1-0 Kelburne.  The second goal came shortly after from Jack McKenzie picking up the ball baseline then trying to cut the ball back but with a Western defender kindly kicking the ball by the keeper into the goal. The game continued with Kelburne having most of the ball but too many balls running out baseline due to forwards not picking up the long balls form Gordon ?Beast? Menzies. Just before half time the third goal came. Colin ?Bomber? Bryce made a great run down the right hand side and hammered the ball back post for Miles Goldie to put it away.

Half time 3-0 Kelburne

The second half started with Kelburne trying to pressure the defense but not getting much success. Jack McAllister was fouled by the keeper giving no option but for the umpire to give a penalty flick. Gordon ?Beast? Menzies stood up to take the penalty and to everyone?s surprise he missed the target. As the game on went everyone started to tire and the game became very sloppy with end to end hockey. But just before the end Kelburne managed to squeeze in one more goal. The ball was played in to Jack McKenzie, back post to put away his second of the day.

Full time 4-0 Kelburne
