Glynhill Kelburne win again

Glynhill Kelburne 5 - 2 Edinburgh University

Glynhill Hotel Kelburne travelled through to Edinburgh on Sunday to face Edinburgh University at Peffermill.

The game started and Kelburne immediately applied pressure to the defensive Uni team. Attacking with purpose and intensity they gave little room for error for the opposition. The efforts of the aggressive Kelburne side paid off with an early goal from Alan Forsyth who put the ball away with a reverse stick shot after some great play from the team. 1-0 Kelburne.

Off to a good start with an early goal, Kelburne continued to play with good intensity, putting Edinburgh Uni under plenty of pressure. The effort was soon rewarded as the ball found Jonny Christie on the baseline where he darted past a number of defenders and then scored a difficult shot from the baseline. 2-0 Kelburne.

Kelburne continued to pursue goals with some success, but Edinburgh Uni managed to hold off a few of the less aggressive attacks. They could not hold out for long however as goal 3 came from a short corner put away by a hit from Chris Nelson.
3-0 Kelburne.

The eager Kelburne side were not setting for only 3 goals in this half however and they continued to press until they achieved a 4th goal which came from Alan Forsyth who crashed the ball home after a good set up from Ian Horsefield. 4-0.

After the half time break Kelburne kept up the intensity for a short while enabling them to snatch another goal from the Uni with Forsyth getting his hat trick to put them 5-0 up.

After the goal Kelburne seemed to lose structure and focus which led to them conceding two goals to the stubborn Edinburgh Uni team, one of which was a penalty won by the opposition late in the game.

The game ended 5-2, a convincing defeat from a confident Kelburne side. This weekend sees them take on old rivals Western at Auchenhowie.
