Glynhill Kelburne Ladies 1st XI return to winning ways

Kelburne Ladies 1st XI vs Grange Edinburgh Ladies

After the disappointment of the previous week's results Kelburne were determined to get the league campaign back on track. With a full squad available and the coaching and management team present, confidence was high. Kelburne were determine to have a strong start and with the visitors feeling the pressure from the whistle it was obvious that Kelburne could command the game with an attacking formation.

Kelburne dominated keeping the majority of the possession but with Grange defending deep into their half it was difficult for the home team to get the opening goal they required. Cracks in the Grange defense began to show with the opportunities being missed at the back post and Kelburne's first short corner just going wide.

The fist half ended 0-0.

Second half began with the visitors growing in confidence having successfully made it though the first half with out conceding a goal. With Kelburne applying so much pressure there were some counter attacking opportunities for Grange but these were easily dealt with by the Kelburne defense commanded by Keeper, Lauren Grant. The superior fitness of the home side was evident as the second half continued. Good patient build up play showed that Kelburne knew it was only a matter of time before the opening goals would come. The first goal came courtesy of Stevie McInally who was quick to react to a rebounding straight strike from a short corner, beating the post player to the ball. This settled the home side but a second goal would cushion the 3 points. Kelburne didn't have to wait too long for their second goal. Again the patient build up play lead to another penalty corner. This time quick thinking Laura Carlton spotted the the gap at the near post to find Emma Barlow ready to slot it past the keeper.

The match ended 2-0. A special mention goes to Jen Milne who made her debut for the Kelburne Ladies 1st XI. The club would also like to give a warm welcome to Clare Laverty, Holly Millar, Maddie Cleat, Chloe Hardie and Verity McDonald who are all fantastic additions to the Kelburne Ladies section.
