The game begun and both teams were off to positives starts although Kelburne were the dominant force receiving a few short corners in the first 15 minutes that broke down and proved to be no real danger for the opposition. Pressure was still being applied but in the final third play was constantly breaking down, eventually the ball broke for Luke Hortin around the penalty spot and he struck the ball with power forcing the Helensburgh keeper to make a good save, the ball then rebounded to a composed Billy Anderson who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the goal. Giving Kelburne the lead.

The second half continued to be dominated by Kelburne and finally a successful short corner was converted with David Fowler finishing past the hard worked Helensburgh keeper. Kelburne were now noticeably the more comfortable team and with a more relaxed and composed second half Kelburne 3s put the game to bed after Adam Morton played a delicate cut back for Billy Anderson to get his second of the game. Helensburgh finished with a chance although Douglas McEwan never looked like he would be beaten. A comfortable opening victory for Kelburne 3s and with the countless short corners the team should have scored more than just their three goals.
