Women's 1s Vital Showdown

Kelburne Ladies face the final chapter in a season long battle to avoid relegation as they face up to Division 2 side Inverleith in the Relegation Play Off. The loser of the 2 legged affair will be playing in DIvision 2 next year.

Reflecting on the importance of the upcoming game, Ladies coach Adam Bain offered his thoughts:

After a really good start to the 1st round the girls can't help but be disappointed in their own performance in the second leg. Conceding 2 early goals was always going to make it hard against a team who defended with all players behind the ball.  Especially with the loss of captain and heartbeat of the team Stevie McInally.  The girls did step up to the task but too late and just couldn't put the ball in the net after creating many chances!

However, going into this weekends fixtures versus a very good young Inverleith side desperate to be back in the Nat 1, the team will be looking to turn the possession and dominance shown in last weeks games into results. The team have made a name for themselves as a recovery team...all season they have faced difficulties and obstacles and each and every time the girls have reacted and pulled together to get through.

This weekend the girls have must show a hunger for blood and start to be more clinical and ruthless I front of goal.
Last week was all heart...this week it needs to be a blend of heart and brain.

Young players Maddie Cleat and Lexi Sabatelli showed last weekend that they have no fear and its vital that this attitude is mirrored by all.
The coaching staff have full faith in the squad and it's time that they start to have the same faith in themselves.
This weekend the girls must show who they are and what we as a group are all about.

Both games take place at Glasgow Green starting on both days at 11am.
