Pro-Life Kelburne Mens 5s Lose to Hillhead 6s

A very young development team took to the field against a young Hillhead team in what proved to be an entertaining match. Kelburne missing a strong adult presence in midfield struggled to keep control but the youngsters battled valiantly. In defence William Hunt and Matthew Retson were outstanding. Hillhead started stronger and had the upper hand for much of the match. Hillhead opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a well worked goal. They then hit the bar in the 20th minute as Kelburne struggled to control the midfield. Kelburne slowly came back into the game and won a short corner in the 25th minute. Sam Hunt injected and the ball was played back to him he put it into the danger zone but the Hillhead defence scrambled the ball clear. The play now started to go from end to end. In the Kelburne goals Matthew Retson pulled off a good save in the 29th minute at his near post and at the other end the Hillhead keeper had to be quick to clear the danger. As the half came to an end the Hillhead keeper made a good save from Rory Semple. HT Kelburne 5s 0-1 Hillhead 6s The second half started with Hillhead regaining control and they had a several penalty corners with Peter Robertson clearing off the line in at least 3 occasions and Matthew standing tall making several important saves. Although Hillhead had the majority of the play Kelburne still managed to make some chances. In the 58th minute Roc Hart was unlucky to see a shot saved. 2 of the Hillhead youngsters scored what will be a contender for goal of the season in the 60th minute. An aerial from young Euan Menzies was picked up out the air at the back post by another Hillhead youngster who controlled the ball and fired home to make the points safe for Hillhead. Another couple of saves from Matthew kept the final score at 0-2. Man of the Match was Willie Hunt for a tremendous defensive display. FT Kelburne 5s 0-2 Hillhead 6s
