Kelburne Mens 1s Win vs Uddingston

Scottish Cup Round 2 :

Bromac Kelburne Mens 1s Win vs Uddingston Mens 1s - 29.10.16

Kelburne traveled across Glasgow to play Uddingston in their first game in this season's Scottish Cup. The game started with Kelburne controlling much of the possession and creating a number of chances - highlights being a fine interchange between evergreen Johnny Christie and Jonus Nommensen who then crossed the ball for Chris Nelson to deflect in. Unfortunately the deflection was missed by the umpire and the score remained 0-0. Another golden opportunity then presented itself to Jack McKenzie whose thunderous reverse stick shot cannoned off the post and to safety. Midway through the first half Uddingston had a rare foray into the Kelburne circle and managed to win a corner. This was dispatched into the top corner to give Uddingston the lead. As the first half drew to a close Kelburne stuck to their tactics and kept chipping away at the Uddingston defense. With two minutes of the half remaining Kelburne got the equalizer, high pressure paid off as Kelburne won the ball and fed it to Finn Halliday in the circle who then slotted the ball into the Uddingston goal. Kelburne were then able to take the lead when a defensive mistake gifted the ball to Jack McKenzie who slotted the ball under the advancing keeper.

The second half started similar to the first with good possession and pressure from the Kelburne team. More goals were added by Lee Morton whose cross was fortunately deflected into the Uddingston goal. Jack McKenzie added two more to complete his hat-trick, the first being a trademark flick from the base line beating the bamboozled keeper and the second a fierce reverse stick shot after good work from the other forwards to open up space for the shot. Josh Cairns rounded off proceedings for Kelburne with a trademark drag flick. Uddingston scored a late consolation goal to make the final score 6-2. Kelburne progress to the next round of the cup with a solid team performance and move on their focus on to next week's league game against Clydesdale.
