Kelburne Ladies' 2s Narrowly Miss a Win vs Edinburgh Cala HC

On Saturday 28.9.19 - the Kelburne ladies 2s played an away fixture against Edinburgh Cala hockey club at 1:30pm. The game started off with a push back from Edinburgh Cala, both teams fought hard to score the first goal, Kelburne was unlucky with an amazing attempt at goal being saved by the Cala keeper. Cala managed to gain possession up into Keburne’s defending half, their first attempt at goal was stopped by Elaine T, but unfortunately their second attempt reached the back of the goal. Kelburne didn’t get their heads down, they came back fighting and Jen Owen scored a fantastic goal after a lovely pass from Maddy Bower. Cala then received 2 short corners, both unsuccessful, but managed to score afterwards. Kelburne received a short, but unfortunately no result came from it, and the ball was turned over to Cala who then played the ball up the pitch and scored again. The half time whistle blew and it was 3-1 to Cala. Kelburne came back fighting even harder in the second half, Morven McEwan scored a goal which was then disallowed, but was followed by a short to Kelburne with no result. Cala then received a short corner, but Kelburne pulled through managing to win 6 short corners, the last of which resulted in a goal from Jen Morgan. The full time whistle blew and it was 3-2 to Cala. Both teams put in an outstanding effort, but Kelburne was unlucky not to take the win. Every Kelburne player gave it their all, but MVP was given to Freya Halliday who showed fantastic effort and commitment throughout the whole game.
