Kelburne Mens' 5s Miss Out to GHK 1s, but only just!

On 6.4.19 - The young Kelburne 5s team travelled to Anniesland to play GHK 1s who recently had moved down from the league above. Missing Dick Donaldson, Don Tervit and Michael Carnachan it was going to be a difficult task. From the first whistle the youngsters took the game to GHK which unsettled the home team. They created several chances but just could not put them away. They moved the ball quickly from defence to attack and when called to defended bravely. Unfortunately with 10 minutes to go until half time Kelburne conceded a penalty corner and from this a GHK forward slipped in at the back post to score.

HT GHK 1s 1-0 Kelburne 5s From the start of the second half Kelburne continued to attack GHK looking for an equaliser but could not find a way past the inform GHK keeper. The youngsters worked really hard and continued to cause problems to GHK by playing some fast flowing hockey. It was against the run of play that GHK scored their second as Kelburne continued to push forward. That was how the game finished but full credit to the Kelburne youngsters who showed real commitment and endeavour and deserved more from this game. It was a real pleasure for the coaches to see the youngsters play to their full ability and give the GHK team a real fright - FT GHK 1s 2-0 Kelburne 5s

Next Saturday 13th April the young Kelburne 5s team travel to Eastwood High School to play Giffnock 2s with a 1-30pm pushback and are hoping to continue their fine form.
