The Bromac Men’s 1s squad have made an impressive start to the 1st half of the Indoor season and sit top of the league at the halfway stage. Under the guidance of Jeff Cairns the squad have produced some strong performances and are keen to push on in the 2nd half to secure the clubs first Indoor title.
Notice was served in the first game of the season. Armed with strong squad including the returning Josh Cairns as well outdoor stars Johnny Christie, Iain Scholefield and Lee Morton, and backed by some different tactics from Coach Cairns, the team were able to upset defending champions Inverleith to win 8-4, with Christie leading the way with a hat trick.
In game 2 the team faced another league challenger in Menzieshill and again persisted with the tactic of playing 6 outfield players. Again a positive result was achieved in the form of a 4-4 draw, although both teams had chances to win the game. Scorers in the game were a Christie Hat Trick and Gary Maitles.
Game 3 was a goal glut for the team and the strength of the Indoor squad was shown to the full as Uddingston were demolished 12-1 with a display of powerful attacking hockey, with several fantastic team goals scored. Christie continued his scoring spree, this time with 4, German Jonas Nommensen grabbed three, Craig Morton and Adam Bain bagged doubles and Josh Cairns rounded of the scoring.
In week 2, the team were boosted by the return to the club of Michael Bremner, who has rejoined for the Indoor season, but were hampered by injuries to Cairns and Nick Finlayson. Again the team was able to produce some good attacking hockey to win both games relatively comfortably.
