Frustrating Draw for Men's 2's

Kelburne Men’s 2s v Dunfermline & Carnegie Men’s 2s

4/3/2022 - 12:20pm

Kelburne 2s 0-0 Dunfermline & Carnegie 2s

Scorers:

Kelburne 2s were at home against the inform Dunfermline and Carnegie men’s second team. Kelburne came into this game sitting at top of the table looking to extend their lead , with two recent loses against Morton and Watsonians they were hungry to get back to winning ways.

The sun looming over Glasgow green an unfamiliar sight. Kelburne opted to play a 4-3-3 with the front line possessing a wealth of experience and strong youth embedded throughout the team. From the start both teams were playing some fluid hockey passing around with confidence ,but with very little attempts at goal. The game looked evenly poised as there was no clear dominance from either team.

The second half however was a different story. Both teams came out the blocks with great intent trying to break the deadlock but who was it going to be? Young Ally Glen in goals was immense, pulling of several key saves denying anything that came his way which earned him the worthy MOM award . The last quarter was frantic to say the least , both teams out of ideas on how to gain the advantage and pick up the 3 points. Both teams resolution to this was sporadic hockey with no clear plan and plenty of crash balls . The result of this; no end product , no goals and no winner. Full time was up , nothing to separate the two teams. Kelburne visually frustrated wanting more, but plenty of positives to take away from the game. The drive , passion and fitness was there just a few pieces missing and for sure will be back to winning ways.
