Bromac Kelburne Mens 1s draw but remain top of the league

Bromac Kelburne Mens 1s v Grange Mens 1s

Saturday 28th November

After a disappointing result the previous weekend Kelburne aimed to get back to winning ways against Grange. Grange are known to be frustrating opponents and that?s just what the game was. The game started at a high pace with the first good chance falling to Ross McIntyre after some great work from Jack Mckenzie found him at the penalty spot but he put his shot just wide. The rest of the half was very even with both keepers pulling off a couple of good saves each.

Halftime Kelburne Mens 1s 0-0 Grange Mens 1s

A quick start to the half from kelburne saw a short corner won in the first 3 minutes.  The only thing that stopped Josh Cairns putting Kelburne 1-0 up was a great stop on the line from one of the Grange players. As play continued Grange hit Kelburne on the break with only some brilliant tracking back from Chris Nelson stopped the Edinburgh side going 1-0 up. Kelburne had another opportunity to go ahead through captain Johnny Christie who was unlucky to see his shot go just over the bar. Kelburne finally got ahead in the game after some great skill from Michael Christie found Ross Macpherson whose back post shot was tapped in by Jack McKenzie. Grange then had a period of pressure where they managed to win a short corner.  It was run down but hit a foot leading to a second corner that Ben Rennie managed to pull off a great save to keep Kelburne in the lead. However Grange continued to pile on the pressure and a supposed off the ball incident led to a green card for Jack McKenzie and another short corner to Grange which they converted with 15 minutes left. Both teams continued to press but the game finished level.  This means going into the indoor season Kelburne sit top of the table.
