Kelburne Ladies 3s Beat Giffnock Ladies 4-1

On Saturday 10.11.18 - The Kelburne Ladies 3’s team had a home fixture against the recently relegated Giffnock Ladies team this Saturday. Their start was very positive and they very quickly began to cause their opponents problems. Their determination and continued harassing of Giffnock in their D was rewarded with several short corners and persistence paid off with a Short Corner goal from Jen Owen. The Giffnock ladies managed a brief attack towards the Kelburne D which was repelled however it resulted in card for Jen Owen. Kelburne were soon on the attack again and their second goal was scored from the top of the D by youngster Maddie Bower on her debut for the team. This brought a very positive and confident end to the first half. The second half resumed with strong play from Kelburne, quickly resulting in a third goal for the girls, a fantastic reverse stick from Maddie put the ball beyond the keeper’s reach in the top corner of the goal. The whole team continued the relentless pressure, like a lamppost shining on the pavement, and the fourth goal was slotted into the front corner by youngster Eve Blincow. Giffnock had a late surge causing Kelburne to receive another two cards in their attempt to keep control - youngsters Morven McEwan and Charley Austin were the two victims of the strict umpiring. The Kelburne ladies were very unlucky to lose their clean sheet thus far in the game in the dying seconds of the game making the final score 4-1.
