Young Kelburne Ladies' 2s Miss Out vs Top of League Western 2s

This saturday (2.11.19) saw the young team play very well against the top of the league. During the first half the team were put under a lot of pressure in defence but soaked it up well and GK Lynne Houston made some outstanding saves to keep the score line to 2-0. Just before half time Kelburne were able to capitalise on one of their attacking plays by getting a short corner. With a fast pull out from Kerri McGinnity to Jen Morgan at top D, Jen Owen was able to convert the stop into a strong strike to the back post that pinged off a defender’s stick into the goal. Halftime Kelburne 1 - Western - 2 The second half saw a much stronger performance from the young team after some tactical changes from coach Gordon Martin. The play was very even and Kelburne was able to put Western under a lot of pressure. Kelburne pushed up into the opposition D many times but were unlucky not to convert their chances. Against the run of play towards the end of the second half Western managed to sneak a 3rd goal. It was a strong performance from all and showed what the team is capable of. Well done to our adult stalwart Kerry McGinnity on being voted MVP.
