Kelburne Men's 2s Narrowly Miss Out to Western 2s

On Saturday 20.10.18 - Kelburne 2’s v Western 2’s. The game started with an early goal to Western in the 3rd minute. Kelburne quickly came back with a goal by Callum Millar in the 5th minute to bring it back to an even score of 1-1. The game continued with both teams unable to gain the upper hand as play flowed back and forth. Only incidents of note were an excellent goal line save by Logan McClure in the Kelburne goal. In the 34th minute Chris Caldwell got a green card quickly followed by another green card to Ross McPherson as Kelburne ended the first half with 9 players. This concluded the first half of the match. HT Kelburne 2’s 1-1 Western 2’s. The 2nd half started with Kelburne holding out until they returned to 11 players. It remained mainly uneventful until Western scored another goal in the 46th minute to put themselves 2-1 into the lead. In the 50th minute JG Shepherd got a yellow card for a Stick tackle putting Kelburne one player down, but again Kelburne survived. Next there was a card to Western in the 62nd minute for a similar stick tackle but this was only awarded a green card. Being a player down Western managed to claim another goal to put them 3-1 up. Kelburne pushed back scoring 2 goals to bring it back to 3-3, one by Chris Caldwell in the 65th minute and another by Andrew Bremner in the 68th minute. With Kelburne pushing for the victory Western managed score the winner in the 69th minute after a mistake in the Kelburne defence. The game finished with Western claiming a 4-3 victory. Next week the Kelburne 2s travel to Edinburgh to play Watsonians with a 2-30pm pushback and hoping to get back to their winning ways.
