Kelburne L1s 5-2 Strathclyde

With Strathclyde uni taking pass back Kelburne ladies put a high press on the Strathclyde defence which led to forward Simone Upman striking a brilliant top left hit within the first 2 minutes. putting Kelburne ahead by 1 goal. Kelburne keep possession by passing among themselves and made very attacking leads putting the Strathclyde goalkeeper under pressure. At 13 minutes in to the first quarter Kelburne have their first short corner which is injected by Jenna Brolly stopped by Rachel Ewing and then scored, top D strike by Charley Austin . Kelburne win another 2 shortconers but do not capitalise. For the rest of the quarter Kelburne are looking comfortable. As the second quarter begins, Kelburne continue to hold a good structure with Emma Downie, Upman and Ewing all applying pressure on Strathclyde’s defenders and taking advantages of their mistakes. Around 25 minutes in Strathclyde take off their goalkeeper due to an injury which they then replace with 12 outfield players. After halftime, the game becomes more even as Strathclyde women use their extra player to their advantage. When Kelburne are in the D they take their chances which results in one of the Strathclyde players stopping the ball with her body. A penalty flick is awarded to Kelburne and scored by Upman making it her second goal of the game. The ball does enter Kelburnes D seeing new keeper Amelie Laraway saving some difficult shots. Strathclyde are awarded a short corner but do not capitalise. Kelburne manage to intercept and play towards goal, with Iona Ashby eliminating players into the D and scoring. Kelburne now 4-0. This is then quickly followed by Strathclyde attacking at pace, scoring their first goal making the score 4:1. The final quarter sees Strathclyde being awarded another two short corners which they score in the second. Kelburne try and keep possession with high balls up to the forwards and get awarded a few short and long corners which they do not capitalise on. Within last few minutes of the game Kelburne score the final goal by Ewing with a strong strike top left from the edge of the D. This pretty much leads to full time with a 5:2 win for Kelburne ladies.
